About
Excelsior Applied Systems develops autonomous equipment for agricultural and environmental research. OSIRIS is our first system, and we are carrying it from bench tests and simulation toward equipment that research programs and laboratories can run in the field.
How we work
Research partnership
The research is led by a university robotics laboratory whose prior work includes an uncrewed sediment sampling system and navigation and path planning for environmental monitoring robots. Excelsior Applied Systems is the small business partner in federal research programs, and results are published through ASABE and ASME.
Engineering
The sampling equipment is designed for outdoor operation. Subsystems are built and tested on the bench before integration on a ground vehicle. The core handling subsystem has been built and bench tested, and the coring control is in simulation.
Field evaluation
Research stations, laboratories, and sampling programs are invited to host field trials, planned for 2027, and to evaluate the system. Inquiries receive a reply within two business days.
